In most cases, there are a couple of colors of fur blended together to give a slightly textured look. Short Bear-This is a nice basic neutral fur that would be great with other furs. It would be a great fur for the body of a lion costume. It is a tad bit longer than the cubby bear and a bit shaggier.

Winter Horse-This fur is about 1/2" long. It is very sleek with a luminous look to it-- not quite shiny, kind of glisteny. It is slightly shorter than the cubby bear. After close inspection we have concluded that the cubby bear has shorter furs at its base, so the fur has some body. This fur lays smoother.

Striped Mink - Ok, this may be my new favorite fur. This is a very slick fur with 1/4" stripes of black on black. The stripes alternate with a shiny, smooth, matte black stripe and then slightly coarser, shiny black stripe. The effect is subtle but beautiful. 60" wide, $35.98 per yard

Pelted Mink- This is one of the few furs that we have that is very traditional. This fur is "pelted" which means that there are indented lines every 1 1/2". The fur is very similar to the cubby bear fur-- medium length and fairly coarse so it has nice body. 60" wide, $35.98 per yard

Seal-- These furs are short (but not too short), dense and kind of slick looking. The fur is much softer that then plush fur found at the top of this page. They have that "I just got out of the water so I'm slicked back" look. 60" wide, $26.98/yd

Paisley-- yes, you read correctly! This is a really cool paisley print fur. The paisley pattern is a nice wine color with wheat colored accents. Argyle-- A traditional print in a non-tradtional place! This is a really graphic fur with lots of personality. The argyle "square" is 1" high. The fur is just under an 1" long but lays nice and flat.

Teddie- Champagne--This is a very dense fur with a slightly darker backing than fur. The backing is a beige, the fur is a champagne color. The pile is about 7/8". The fur is a little stiffer than some so it has a nice texture-- rather than just laying flat. 60" wide, $29.09

Cocker Spaniel meets Chocolate Lab--This is a very short, slightly napped in a chocolate brown that is slightly darker in places. It is pelted so that the nap runs a couple of different ways creating light and dark spots. It is surprisingly soft. 60" wide, $35.98/yd

Flat-Pile Tiger--This is an ultra-low loft, flat-pile fur. It is slick and fuzzy, but not fluffy. Because this fur is polyester, it is machine washable and dryable. It has a wavy pelted design woven in where the nap of the fur reverses.

Saskwatch--This is a wonderful fur that doesn't look like any animal I've ever seen and yet it looks kind of realistic. The pile is grey with black spots that are about the size of a dime sprinkled about. The base is burgundy, but you don't see it unless you run your hands through the fur. It does give it a warmer feeling though. This is a short fur.

Mutt- You know how you look at some dogs and just know that they have bits and pieces or more breeds than you can count? This is the fur. The base is a dirty white (not white not beige). There are stripes that run parallel to the selvedge that are about 4" wide. What makes it great though is that the stripes are made up of little brown spots. Looks great from a distance This is a short fur.

Fake Fur Trims!

These are great to add to an existing garment. If you backed it with something, they would work for a strap on a bag as well. The narrower style is 2" wide, the wider version is 4" wide. The wider version would work well as a binding if you folded it in half. The edges are not finished, but because of the way the fake fur is manufactured it will not fray. You may lose some of the fur off the edges, but you shouldn't lose too much.

Depending on how you were using the trim you could use a fabric glue, snaps, velcro or simply a line of stitching to attach the trim to your project.
